the incredible 150 foot slide
February 5th, 2007 by smidge
It’s winter here in Anytown. Over the last few weeks, The Edge, without really trying, has been wowing me during walks up clients’ driveways with his incredible ice-sliding ability. No doubt he is just trying to amuse himself during the duller of those cold trudges. But the other day when we did a job at a house on a hill with a 150-ft long driveway, my challenge to the Edge was irresistable:
is it really ok form to lift a foot during a slide?
I agree it’s bad form to lift one’s foot while sliding. If I could do it over again I’d bend at the knees to lower my center of gravity and better keep my balance. At the time it was a choice between bad form and face plant.
we’ll let that one slide, edge.

next time i am bored at work, instead of commenting on blogs, i will to calculate an adjustment/handicap formula factoring in temperature, phase, coverage, porosity, rime and graupel, altitude, incline, shoe sole material, tread depth, height, weight, shoe width, shoe size, femur/fibula ratio, knee cap circumference, velocity…… oh so many variables in the judging of this sport……
count it!
